What are some ways to make a ‘canape’ bed with things around the house or things at craft/hardware stores?
‘canape’ (spelling?) the type of bed w/ fabric hanging from up high down to the bed covering the bed , inside , how might you create one safely and securely with things from the craft store or the hardware store?
Most of the time a ‘canopy’ bed refers to the bed itself, but you can get a similar effect by hanging material from the ceiling, or a fixture attached to the ceiling. It rather depends on the ‘finished’ look you want, and wheter the bed has posts.
If the bed has posts, then you can build a simple frame to mount over the top of the posts, and attach your fabric to the frame. You can get very simple, or very elaborate with this, depending on your carpentry skills.
The same thing goes for the ceiling mounted canopies…. you can run with a simple fixture, or very elaborate. Simplest approach would be to attach a plate to the ceiling, and screw in a short length of pipe. Take a round piece of plywood, with another plate, and screw it onto the pipe, and staple your fabric to the top side of the plywood. You could fold the fabric over when you staple it to create pleats… all kinds of things you can do. Plywood isnt the only thing you could use to attach the fabric to either… your imagination is the limit. The important thing is to get a good secure attachment to a ceiling beam.
One more option is to attach a hoop of some sort to the wall above the headboard… again, you can get very elaborate, or very simple.
